‘What happens when Tosca takes her taxi home at the end of the night?’ Liminal reopened the Kings Head Theatre, this production explored 4 separate personal journeys told through music. Le Gateau Chocolat worked with three solo performers and one couple to create 4 separate shows sharing a space, with personal props and costumes for each piece.
The production explored the artists personal experiences, taking them from or up to their dream performance. The performers dictated the music chosen against a fake radio programme, a little like Desert Island Discs, we were give a chance to meet the singers behind their roles.
“Designer Isabella van Braeckel’s playfully postmodern set certainly feels very ‘now’, reimagining early ’90s visual fizz with a squiggly carpet in bright hues, and a tangle of squares and screens filling one wall.”
Alice Saville, Exaunt
“When one enters the auditorium, the first thing that strikes one is the magnificent white set, complete with myriad lighting effects and plush carpet. Full credit here to the imaginative designer Isabella Van Braeckel, who has ensured that the show has a truly lavish setting, much grander than any dressing room I have ever seen!”
