The visit of an Elvis-like star to a small American town causes a stir as one young prize-winner gets to kiss him ‘bye’ as he goes off to war. With a saccharine-sweet 50s look, the dark underbelly of the star becomes visible as the musical becomes a joyful coming of age for the young school kids. Small Town meets Big City.
