Burgerz was developed through workshopping where design became intrinsic to the structure of the piece. Under Soutra Gilmour’s mentorship I was able to work in the idea development of Burgerz, firming the idea of the creation of a burger on stage in a 50s-esque high colour kitchen as the shine of the storytelling becomes fractured by Travis’s personal experience of trans hate. This production is now seen as a seminal work in the broadening of understanding and communication of the trans experience and has been performed in countries around the world.
