Cast: Cariad Lloyd, Rob Crouch, Cara Chase, Kristin Millward

A European Premiere of this dark comedy, Karla, a foul-mouthed twenty-something comedian, and Don, a middle-aged man embroiled in a nasty divorce, are brought together unexpectedly when their cancer-stricken mothers become roommates in the hospital.

Together, this unlikely duo must negotiate some of life’s biggest challenges… while making some of the world’s most inappropriate jokes.

“Isabella van Braeckel’s set recreates the hospital environment down to the last detail; I could swear I caught a whiff of disinfectant in the air on the way in. The long curtain that spans the stage, shielding the patients from view, cleverly doubles up to do the same for the actors during a couple of fairly lengthy scene changes.”

Theatre Things

“Isabella Van Braeckel’s design makes great use of the intimacy of the Finborough to get up close and personal”

There Ought to be Clowns

“The Finborough Theatre is transformed into a hospital. From the sign “welcome to our ward” over the door as you enter, to the signage on the wall – no smoking, no cell phones”

John O’Brien, London Theatre 1

“Isabella Van Braeckel’s detailed costume design deserves a mention for its simple awareness of each character, allowing us to truly see these whose these people are at a glance.”

Joseph Prestwich, The Spy in the Stalls

“you’re thrust into this world when you walk upstairs into an impressive recreation of a sterile hospital ward. And there’s a great contrast in the cast, Cariad Lloyd as Karla is all colour and youth while Rob Crouch’s Don is suitably drab and decayed.”
